Safeguarding Policy

Appleton Roebuck & Acaster Selby Parish Council recognises the importance of safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. While there is no specific statutory requirement for parish councils to adopt a standalone safeguarding policy, the Council acknowledges that it is a public body with responsibilities under wider safeguarding legislation and guidance, including the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006, the Care Act 2014 and relevant child protection law. Councillors and staff are expected to act appropriately and report any safeguarding concerns that may arise in the course of their duties. The Council is committed to giving due consideration to the adoption of a formal safeguarding policy as part of its ongoing review of governance arrangements and good practice.
