Our Role in the Planning Process
The Parish Council does not determine Planning Applications, but has to be consulted regarding each application. The matters are discussed in our open meetings where the applicant, supporters, and objectors are given an opportunity to make representations. The Parish Council will then decide what comments and reccomendations it will send to the Planning Authority.
The majority of applications are determined by Selby District Council ( a few are heard by North Yorkshire C.C. where it concerns one of their sites, e.g. the School). Our Parish has produced a Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP), which now forms part of Selby D.C.’s planning policy and must be taken into consideration when they determine applications. This plan reflects Parishioners views after consultation and adoption, following the local referendum.
The NDP can be found in the next sub menu.
