Standing Orders

The Standing Orders are in place to provide consistency and transparency in the way the Council meets and acts. They reflect the constraints placed upon the Council by Legislation. Standing orders may be altered or temporally suspended at a meeting for a specific purpose providing that action is not unlawful. For example the Council is legally required to hold a minimum of 3 ordinary meetings per annum. It has chosen to hold a meeting on the first Wednesday of every month except August (11 meetings), but could alter that number providing the statutory minimum of 3 is maintained.
